In many societies, cabbage has always served as a traditional treatment method for skin wounds or even bruises. The vegetable has high levels of vitamin K, vitamin C, as well as potassium. At the same time, cabbage usually has low calorie content.

Steps:

The outer leaves of the cabbage are firstly removed and then the cabbage washed thoroughly. The washed cabbage is dried and the hard stem simultaneously cut out. The prepared cabbage is taken to a counter after which the leaf is bruised with the help of a rolling pin. The leaf will eventually produce its juice.

The next step involves foiling the cabbage through wrapping after which it is inserted into the available oven to warm for some minutes. The following step is placement of the cabbage onto the part of the body that is painful. Either a bandage or a gauze is used to cover the cabbage and then the area is elevated.

You should then allow the cabbage compress to take action for at least an hour. The process should be repeated three times each day with new leaves per trial. However, it should be noted that any possible relief on the painful part of the leg would be noticed on the following day after applying the cabbage. Notably, it is also possible to use a cold compress procedure, which involves refrigerating the cabbage prior to following the normal cabbage compress method.

The advantage of using red cabbage is the presence of anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are chemicals whose primary role is the alleviation of inflammation and joint pain. If the condition involved is ulcers, you will benefit from using either a red or a green cabbage.

The rare cases of cabbage allergies should also be considered. Itching or even swelling are associated with serious cabbage allergies. Therefore, it is advisable to unwrap the cabbage compress. On the other hand, you should see a medical practitioner in case of increased bodily irritation.
